The World's Scapegoat

First it was just the Jews who were to blame for all the problems in the world. Now that they have their own country, Israel is the default scapegoat when all else fails. Whatever problem you are having whether it be a national economic crisis or your sink is backed up. There is a nefarious Israeli behind it all. After all, if they are truly G-d's people then they have the power to create and destroy at will.

Obviously the previous paragraph was sarcasm (For those of you who were smiling with satisfaction). But tragically, it isn't far off the mark. If we were to actually heed what pundits and despots spew then we could have world peace and prosperity if there weren't any Jews and the whole "experiment" called Israel were just eradicated.

For those of you who still have an ability to apply logic, take a step back. It wasn't Israel that created the mess in the Middle East. The entire region has been a mess for generations. Tribal warfare and constant invasions and takeovers has made it one of the least stable regions on the planet. That's saying something. Just during my life time, it has been constantly at odds with others and itself. Western politicians have used the term peace in a different fashion when talking about the Middle East. To them it truly means the absence of war.

The real problem in the Middle East is not the Jewish Israel. It is the nations that surround her. Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, and Oman. Throw in the terror groups they sponsor and support and you have chaos at best. Their lust for power, now matter how false, and their ability to lie to and oppress their own people is the problem. Their ease at manipulating the ignorant masses to blame the Israeli for all of their problems is as amazing as it is tragic. Then again, since the Jew came into existence they have been blamed. Many a society blamed the nefarious Israelite for plagues, diseases, and other horrendous phenomenon on the Jew.

Being a more civilized and advanced culture, you would think we could get away from this. There is something that keeps dragging people back to it. Maybe it's just the pure ease of blaming the Jew. It's been done so often that people just can't automatically discard the idea. Why take responsibility for yourself when you have an acceptable scapegoat at your fingertips?

Enough already. Until the onus is put on the true purveyors of hatred and angst, the Jew will continue to be the scapegoat. It makes everyone feel more comfortable having an easy bogyman to blame.
