For all intents and purposes, the negotiations with Iran in regards to it's nuclear development was dead before it started. Iran's willingness to "come clean" about it's development was strategically planned just as North Korea's was. Iran is sticking it to the West and succeeding at showing the rest of the world that the West lacks what it takes to lead. It also beg's the question, "why should they want to be like the west?" In islamist eyes, freedom has led to laziness and cowardice. Iran is taking full advantage of this. Tragically, the perception of the West may not be far off the mark.
Prominent conservative lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Iran will not ship its low enriched uranium abroad in a single batch or in several shipments, a compromise suggested by some government officials, under any circumstances.
I still see the hand of Russia behind this. Russians have been duplicitous with anti-western sentiment since the Bolsheviks reared their ugly heads. This being said, Iran is not an ally to any freedom loving nation. If you claim to be free then you are the enemy of the ayatollah and his lapdog Momo.
The offer of exchanging uranium with Iran was laughable in the first place. It gives the impression of desperation. It also lets the Iranians know that the idea of stopping their development is actually off the table and a new, softer strategy has taken it's place. This is what Iran was counting on. They seem to know us better than we do. Maybe the ayatollah has read up on his Sun Tzu?
Another conservative lawmaker, Hossein Naqvi Hosseini, said Iran had three options to procure fuel for its reactor; to buy the fuel from other countries; to accept the UN-brokered plan; or to enrich uranium to a higher level domestically and produce the required fuel itself.
Guess which one they'll pick.
