As expected, protests have started to make the news. What's interesting is where these protests are taking place.
1. in Teheran, a crowd of about 6,000 stretching for a half-mile (kilometer) marched from prayers at Teheran University to Palestine Square, chanting "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" and burning Israeli flags .
2. In Jordan, police fired volleys of tear gas and scuffled with dozens of protesters who tried to push through barrier to reach the Israeli Embassy in Amman.
3. More than 3,000 people marched in solidarity with Gaza in the northern Sinai city of el-Arish, Egypt's closest city to Gaza. On the border, dozens of Sinai Beduins raced around in cars in the town of Rafah, firing their guns into the air.
4. In Syria, some 2,000 marched in Damascus' Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting "jihad will unite us," and later burned an Israeli flag.
5. In Sudan, thousands marched in downtown Khartoum from mosques to the main Martyrs Square, urging Muslims to jihad and denouncing Israel and America.
This is the normal protest crowd. As you read through the list, notice that it is not an Arab link to Hamas but an islamic one. It is the followers of mohammed who are siding with Hamas. They realize that this war we are currently in is a religious one. They have made sure of that. Yet, Israel and the west have decided to call it a war of cultures, a war of civilizations. As long as this is the approach, this war cannot be one by the west.
Hamas has allied itself with Iran, Syria, and any organization that follows the words put down in the koran. Secular humanism is incapable of battling this. The enemy knows this. Life does not have the same meaning for islamists as it does to us in the "enlightened west". We believe life is a gift from the almighty. A gift that should be used to provide and help ourselves and others. They see life as a means to death. We see life as a way to glorify the almighty. They see death as a way to glorify allah. The two ideas are at opposite ends of the spectrum and they cannot be reconciled.
There are only two ways to end this war. Defeat them or submit. They realized this fact awhile ago. Our leaders refuse to acknowledge the truth.
Hamas has allies and supporters ready to die for allah. The west has decided that instead of living for G-d, we will live in denial.
