Ehud Olmert is playing a political game. Tzipi Livni and the Kadima party are playing a political game. Binyamin Netanyahu is playing a political game. Yet they all point at each other as the one playing a game. This is not new to politics. I see it here in the US on a daily basis. In fact, political games is something that Western Civilization has resorted to.
"I believe Olmert will take action," she added, "if the chairman of the opposition, [Likud leader] Binyamin Netanyahu, will do something moral for a change and call on him to resign, too. I can tell you that it wasn't easy for Olmert's friends in the government to join these calls," Livni said.
It is no longer what is good for the country that takes priority. It is how a certain action will help the political party. Party trumps country. As I mentioned, this happens in the US on a daily basis. It's all about elections and has nothing to do with governing a country. It's about protecting political aspirations and nothing to do with protecting the people.
Ehud Olmert should have stepped down a long time ago. Tzipi Livni has proven herself to be nothing more than a provocateur and political opportunist. Mr. Netanyahu seems to be falling back into what got him evicted as Prime Minister last time. This is all pathetic, to put it mildly.
Israel cannot afford this kind of churlishness. It is time for Israel to have true leaders. A person willing to make the hard decision and see it through. No matter what the political repercussions.
