As the Western and Israeli government continue down the destructive path of a false peace, Iran prepares for war. Iran is continuing its nuclear development and strengthening its control in the region.
Eight months after he was assassinated in a meticulously-planned car bombing in Damascus, Hizbullah arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh has been succeeded by a senior Iranian intelligence official, an Italian Newspaper reported Thursday, indicating an Iranian determination to consolidate its control over the Lebanese group.
Unless there is a bait and switch game going on, Syria may actually be on the outs with Iran. None the less, Iran is once again letting its intentions be known. What will be the response from the West? More importantly, what will be the response of Israel? The Lebanese government is no longer for Lebanon. It is controlled by Tehran. Then again, maybe Syria isn't on the outs with Iran and that is the true reason for having troops on the Lebanese border. Bashir Assads role seems to be up in the air. Are Syrian troops massing for an invasion or are they there to keep Hizbollah out of Syria? That's for a later discussion.
According to the report in the Italian daily Corriere Della Sera, Hizbullah's new chief military commander is Muhammad Riza Zahdi, aka Hassan Mahdawi, who in the late 1980s served in the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.
Just what will his job be?
According to the report, Zahdi will be in charge of coordinating weapons smuggling to Hizbullah from Syria as well as the construction of military positions in southern Lebanon. The paper said that the appointment was part of an Iranian plan to restructure Hizbullah in the wake of the Second Lebanon War.
I bet UNIFIL sits on their hands with this one, not that they have been a big help anyway.
Despite all of the facts getting in the way, there are still politicians that want to negotiate with these people. Go figure.
