The west prides itself in being rational. The ideology of tolerance has become the new religion. The islamists realize this and are taking full advantage of it. There are two problems (at least) with the west's new found religion. First, at what point is irrational considered rational. Second, is it rational to be tolerant of the intolerant?
Hizbullah's deputy secretary-general, Sheikh Naim Kassem, would not rule out on Saturday the abduction of more Israeli soldiers in order to achieve the organization's goals.
This activity is deemed irrational in the West. Somewhere along the lines the west attempted to apply rules to warfare. By doing so, the west has limited its ability to fight an enemy who refuses to see things the way we do. The question then becomes, is it rational to to be tolerant with people who refuse to acknowledge these western imposed rules?
The islamists are intolerant of anyone who denies or strays from their ideology. They are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their ideology intact. At what point does the west realize that we have to be intolerant of intolerance? When does it become rational to fight the irrational?
The answer to defeating the islamic threat is right in front of us. The problem is we don't like it. The real problem is the longer we allow this to continue, the worse the remedy gets. What good is being rational or tolerant when they are leading to our destruction? The elite among us would have us march right into our own destruction and they would be proud to lead the way.
At this point in time it would be deemed rational to fight the irrational. The word tolerant does not imply acceptance and tolerance does have its limits. We have gone beyond the limits and its time we become intolerant of those who would kill us. They seem to think their ideology and culture is worth fighting and dying for. If we actually believe that our culture has more to give to mankind then theirs, then we must be willing to not only do the same, but always be ready to one-up them.
The winners will be the ones that refuse to back down and are willing to sacrifice in order to live.
